Playing the CPU Top player/Superstar Liverpool and Barca can get so many shots off on me and can hit me on the counter so easily due to forwards not tracking back, defenders allowing too much space and Marking being too laxed. We could see something different with the time increased beyond 10 minutes and tactics not being restricted. However offline there is still a lot more love is also needed. IMO in this state now this game is perfect for a 10 min online match. If you could boil both down to a game we would be close to the holy grail. Pes has many really good qualities, but it depends on what you weigh in your choice if you do not choose both. You just Stopped my inner purchase purchase, thank you. Your interpretation is the same I have after 10-12 demo matches. The last couple of years I have bought PES for later selling them and I have nothing against PES - do not want to spend time on Fifa vs Pes childly. There is no doubt it is a significant improvement over PES2017 but probably not a day one purchase for me this year. The turf looks still quite poor.Ĭonclusion: While I found the demo fun to play, I am already seeing too many irritating aspects of the game that made me walk away from last year edition (though it was quite late in the year). Colors are a bit better than last year but still not really great. The lack of commentary does not help in that department. Player’s movements and expressions on the presentation line are the same than last year. I didn’t see a major atmosphere improvement, outside of the sky view of the stadium and the entrance corridor. I felt cpu defending was better particularly while playing against Germany. The cpu uses those stereotypic ultra lethal one two and/or through ball to break your defense we have seen before in PES2017. It seems to me it is easier to play accurate long ball than short passes as it was also the case in the previous edition. I had quite a lot of misplaced shot by a large margin though (playing in full manual). Shooting as been improved but is not quite their neither. Good or wrong foot passing or shooting feels the same. It is still very similar to do standard dribble with Neymar or Miranda or at least to easy to do it with Miranda. Outside of strength and speed, player individuality didn’t impress me. Fouls detection is not quite sharp enough too. When a team uses a through ball, defending players seems to freeze for half a second.Ĭollisions between players are still not on the par with older versions of the other game. Teammates reaction time is too slow and movement decisions often weird when defending. I didn’t see enough midfield play to my taste. Marking is too loose in general and space is all over the pitch. Off the ball team striker seems invisible to the on the ball team defenders leading to unrealistic counter attack opportunities. Off the ball player positioning suffer from same issues than last year. The weight of it and the physics looks and feel really good.įull back positioning on goal kicks are more realistic (can’t speak for other aspect of their game yet with all those hidden tactics). You don’t have that bowling effect the beta had. Ground passes are great, I love how they feel. Last year, the ball seemed captured in a small area around the player which let all kind of weird dribble or passes happen. The ball feels really free in the feet, so that the ball movement and the distance between the player and the ball dictate more what your options are. Ball control animations are improved compared with the previous iteration and feels really good.
